Squid Family Fun Day at the Monterey Maritime Museum, Saturday, October 10th
Dana Staaf is a marvelous cephaloblogger who manages not one but two
of the finest destinations for cephalophiles on the Internet. She squirts out short molluscan missives at Squid a Day and pens deeper, more thoughtful disquisitions at Cephalopodiatrist.
If you live in the Monterey, California area you can meet her this weekend while she is up to the elbows in squid entrails. She will be working with her advisor, Dr. William Gilly, on the first annual Monterey Squid Day. On Saturday, October 10th (Squid Day!) they will be dissecting a Humboldt squid and they invite out anyone who wants to join in. There doesn’t seem to be too much additional information about the event online, so for more details, contact the Monterey Maritime Museum and check out Dana’s blogs.
Mark your calendar for the first annual Monterey Squid Day! There will be squid activities for one and all. Make your own squid hats, meet some real squid fishermen and eat some Monterey calamari. Dr. William Gilly of Hopkins Marine Station will bring his “Squid for Kids” program and will dissect a giant Humboldt squid!
